Canon Equipment I Have

EOS 30D Digital Camera Body, $1,399.00

Finally, my days of embarrassment are over. Too bad I recently sold the 70-200L (shown below). Oh well... time to start over with lens acquisition.

Item #CAERG... $239.95

I'm a little reluctant to admit that I've got this body (which came with the 35-80mm lens shown below). It has some feature limitations which annoy me: totally plastic body, relatively slow operation, lack of red-flashing focus points, etc. I suppose I would get the Elan II if I could do it over again. It's the lens that matters anyway.

On a positive note, I totally glad I'm a Canon user now (Minolta screwed me by changing flash mounts). Though there are many others, the USM/Ultrasonic lens focusing technology is the only reason needed to go with Canon.

I'm a little overwhelmed by the size of this thing, but I still love it. Memories of the horrific price have faded. I'm looking forward to owning one of the terrific digital bodies now almost in price range. SOLD

This 35-80mm (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) is the worst lens you could possibly buy from Canon. Run away from this lens. If you must have an inexpensive lens -- and there's no way you can afford the extra $35 for the USM version -- buy the 50mm f1.8. Better yet, buy the Yashica T4 Super or the Olympus Stylus Epic. Both will take far better pictures than a crappy P&S or SLR zoom.
