BOXSTAR
The Porsche Boxster S arrives this fall. (Finally!)

Excerpts:

Starting in September, the Porsche Boxster will swap its 2.5-liter flat six for a torquier 2.7-liter variant good for 215 bhp. But the real news this fall will be the long-awaited, more powerful version of the Porsche roadster, the Boxster S...

...The oversquare (the bore is 93 mm, the stroke is 78 mm), 3179-cc, all-aluminum engine develops 248 bhp at 6250 rpm. The maximum torque of 221 lb-ft is available at 4500 rpm...

...Visually, the Boxster S can be identified by a slightly restyled front fascia, mildly modified light clusters, larger wheels and tires, and a more tastefully appointed cabin that borrows a cue or two from the 911. Although we don't know yet how the price will change, chances are that in this respect, too, the Boxster S will move a couple of notches closer to the 911.
