Why Berkeley said, "Damn fun."

I once read (forgive me if I get the facts wrong, but I think I've got it right) that Mark Twain, whenever he wrote, would use the word "damn" instead of mushy words like "very" and "pretty." He rightly believed that adjectives like these did not belong in the written paragraph. It was either fun, or it wasn't fun. In his day, the editor would invariably remove the offending word and all would be well.

I wrote, "damn fun" as a joke, assuming Betty Jo Turner (Panorama editor) would change it to just "fun." I guess times have changed. Forgive me parents; no doubt I've lost my G rating.
