Cherokee XJ Transmission Mount Replacement

The transmission mount was wasted. Engine and transmission oil destroyed the rubber, turning it from rigid to a soft goo. I suppose the 146,000 miles didn't help either. The engine was able to shift forward (in drive) and back (in reverse), causing the spinning bits on the front of the engine to contact the radiator shroud and electric fan.

I purchased a new transmission mount from NAPA and installed it in about two hours. The actual disassembly/installation took about 30 minutes, but there's also the setting up, getting out all the tools, cleaning the dirty parts, etc.

The old mount nearly colapses under my weight. Gratuitous wrenching shot taken by little Berkeley. Emily captures two Berkeleys finishing up the last bolts. The new trans mount installed and standing tall.
