Monache Meadows in Sequoia National Forest 2004. Our trip to Sequoia NF was the inaugural voyage with the Overcamp tent. Comfy! July 9-12, 2004.
Upper Lopez Canyon 2004. Upper Lopez Canyon is a beautiful little trail marked by many water crossings and tons of poison oak. April 17, 2004.
Sierra Trek 2002. This third trip to the Fordyce Trail was marked for me by tons of body damage. For Bryan, it was the Jeep that wouldn't start. It was a good thing Peter was along! August 8-11, 2002.
Dusy-Ershim OHV Route 2002 This must be the most difficult trail in California and certainly one of the toughest in the nation. Each section of the three-day trail is as challenging as the next, with some really hard spots mixed in. July 3-6, 2002.
Moab Easter Jeep Safari 2002 I drive through the night with Bryan Archambeault and "Little B" to attend the Moab Easter Jeep Safari. March 24-30, 2002.
Pine Mountain 2002 The SLO Four Wheelers picked a beautiful Sunday for the first run of the year. It was warm and clear. Twelve rigs met in Santa Margarita for the easy drive to the Pine Mountain ridge trail. Excitement by Mark Booker. February 10, 2002.
Swamp Lake 2001 The SoCalXJ group drove to Swamp Lake for a fun weekend. July 20-22 2001.
Hite Cove 2001 The Pack 4WD club made its annual trip to Hite Cove, an abandoned mining camp. The small group weathered hard rain and snow on the first day. The work day was cool and overcast... perfect. Sunday, it was warm and sunny while we struck camp. April 20-22, 2001.
Moab Easter Jeep Safari 2001 I drive through the night with Randy Burleson to catch the last few days of the Moab Easter Jeep Safari. Carnage! April 12-15, 2001.
San Luis Obispo Christmas Parade 2000. This is myself and Bryan on the KCOY Channel 12 news. We did this about 20 times on alternating sides during the course of the parade. Listen for the faint crunch as I stop at the top when I broke his amber side marker, the only damage of the night. Try either the 342KB .ASF streaming file or the 3.8MB .MPEG movie. Also, read my letter to the editor regarding the club's participation. Sadly, leaders of the club have cancelled further participation in all public events. December 1, 2000.
Sierra Trek 2000. Approaching the big squeeze at the top of winch hill 3 on Sierra Trek 2000. The chute was tight--I had about two inches clearance on either side--but good spotting and sticky tires got me through. Click here for more images. August 17-20, 2000.
Jeeping is hard work! The kids are asleep after a big day on Garcia Ridge. 2000.
Wheeling at the bypass on Garcia Ridge, the club adopted trail. Bypass is used in the opposite sense here; it's a bypass around the easy part. Most of Garcia Ridge is SUV caliber stuff. 2000. |
